Ghosts in the machine?

Its a nice, sunny another day in California. You step off your porch and onto your Segway, and intend to run a quick, pollution-free errand to the dry cleaners’ down the street. As always, you get on, lean ahead and get on your merry way; waving to your neighbor as he does his usual weekend thing of wiping his solar panels clean, thinking darn neat freak wierdo in your head as you roll noiselessly past.
Even before the thought completes in your head, you find yourself flailing headfirst into the streetside rose patch belonging to the crabby cat lady three doors down.
Because you ticked off the tree-hugger karma by going to the dry cleaners’. That, and because you use a Segway where other people can see you.
Seriously, get a life. And a bike.
